I joined your program a few years ago, and the breathing techniques and changing the way I viewed PIV sex as something painful really helped.
I also got physiotherapy which was also really helpful.
I struggled with dilators. I couldn’t get past the first size as it just felt unnatural. My physiotherapist told me that I had a thick ring around my vagina, because once I got past that part I was pain free but the starting was always difficult.
She referred me for surgery and I was on the waiting list. She also asked me if I wanted children and I said yes. She said that will give me the biggest stretch.
I was discharged from physiotherapy and me and my husband continued putting in the work with the practices we learnt from your programme and putting them into action. Penetration was still painful but not like before.
I then fell pregnant without the surgery.
During my labour I told them I had vaginismus and they gave me gas and air when doing examinations. I gave birth to my daughter vaginally. It’s like the physiotherapist said, it was the stretch I needed as now I am pain free!!
My daughter is nearly 14 months now.
I want to thank you so much. I started my journey with you, realised what I was going through and I was able to overcome it.
Now that I have a daughter, I want to prevent vaginismus for her as much as possible. Sex, genitals will not be a taboo subject in my house nor will she be shamed. I hope she grows up fully aware of her body and loving every single part of it.
Thank you so much Katrin. Thank you so much for the work that you do. You really changed my life.
